La colonisation a détruit le nomadisme en Algérie générant une crise aggravée par les sécheresses de 1944-1947 et la guerre d'indépendance. La vision moderniste de l'État-nation algérien évacue le fait nomade. Socialement décapité de ses élites, économiquement amoindri, le nomadisme tend à devenir une relique dans un projet de société mû par une dynamique de transformation sans précédent. State and nomadic society in Algeria.
Colonialism in conjunction with the 1944-1947 drought and the war of independence has destroyed nomadism in Algeria. In addition, the modernist vision of the Algerian nation-state has no place for nomadic society, a society that is deprived of its elites and economically subdued.
