Après une rapide situation du contexte idéologique ayant suscité le développement d'une écriture militante (« radicale » au sens large du terme), cet article rappelle brièvement l'impact du mouvement contrastant avec la modestie quantitative de la production.
L'essentiel de l'analyse porte sur le fonctionnement de cette écriture, dont on n'ignore pas la dette par rapport aux conventions réalistes, mais qui dépasse le réalisme par la volonté militante qui lui imprime une thématique et une forme spécifique. Sont remarquables en particulier le caractère centripète de la structure et l'hypertrophie du réfèrent.
On aboutit ainsi à une écriture qui, fondée sur une esthétique de combat, englobe aussi bien la fiction que la non-fiction (autobiographie) et qui, contrairement à ce que l'on croit en général, s'est efforcée de faire preuve d'innovation et d'invention malgré les pièges formels auxquels elle n'a pu échapper. This paper first summarizes the ideological context which gave birth to a militant («radical» in the broad sense of the term) writing in the thirties and briefly recalls the impact of the movement, which was large compared with the relative paucity of the works.
The essential aspect of this analysis focusses on the workings of this writing which, while it obeys the conventions of realism, goes much beyond it because of its militant spirit which endows it with specific-form and contents. Of particular interest are the centripetal quality of the structure and the hypertrophy of the referent.
The end result is thus a writing based on militant aesthetics, including fiction as well as non-fiction-autobiography in particular. Also, contrary to the generally held view, this writing displays innovation and invention, in spite of certain formal traps into which it inevitably fell. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
