Résumé anglais |
W. Stevens has redefined poetic lyricism through his use of a high degree of abstraction, enrolling the language of criticism into his verse. The call of abstraction was so strong that Stevens made it into a means to construct literary authority, and sustain the canonicity of his poems. The foray into abstraction, however, proved as disheartening as it afforded occasions for intellectual growth. While it tended to alienate from community and nature, it also invited identification with experience and involvement in collective meaning. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
