Peut-on être un passeur apolitique du fascisme ? Nombre d'apôtres de la latinité, qui défendaient ardemment un rapprochement franco-italien, prétendaient que cet objectif pouvait être atteint en tenant la politique à bonne distance. L'objectif était en réalité intenable : nourrir des liens, même limités à la sphère culturelle – ce qui était loin d'être le cas – avec l'Italie ne pouvait se faire sans les fascistes. Il serait aisé de conclure à un simple effet d'affichage du comité. Le Comité France-Italie, association qui dépassait de loin ce statut pour se rapprocher parfois du groupe de pression plus que de simple amitié, ne différenciait pas toujours le pays – l'Italie – et l'État – fasciste. Un examen précis des acteurs à l'œuvre et des activités des sections permettra de comprendre comment un acteur collectif peut – ou pas – servir de passeur, qu'il soit volontaire ou non. Is it possible to be an apolitical intermediary of fascism? Many defenders of Latinity, who ardently defended Franco-Italian rapprochement, claimed that this objective could be achieved by keeping politics at a safe distance. In reality, the objective was untenable: nurturing links with Italy, even if they were limited to the cultural sphere – which was far from being the case – could not be done without the fascists. It would be easy to conclude that this was simply a display by the committee. The Comité France-Italie, an association that went far beyond this status and who sometimes came closer to being a pressure group than a simple friendship group, did not always distinguish between the country – Italy – and the state – Fascism. A detailed examination of the actors and of the activities of the sections will help us to understand how a collective player can – or cannot – act as a go-between, whether voluntary or not.
