L'Empire britannique s'est doté depuis le XVIIIe siècle d'une grande stratégie permettant de construire et maintenir les ambitions de Londres. Certes, le Royaume-Uni n'est plus la puissance impériale de la fin du XIXe siècle, mais la doctrine d'une grande stratégie reste centrale. From the 18th century the British Empire adopted a grand strategy which allowed it to build upon and maintain the ambitions of London. Clearly, the United Kingdom is no longer the imperial power that it was at the end of the 19th century, but the doctrine of grand strategy remains central.
