Résumé anglais |
A major figure in the women's rights movement of the second half of the nineteenth century in the United States, Ernestine Rose has paradoxically long remained relatively unknown. Scattered on both sides of the Atlantic, the sources that allow us to recover the trajectory of this Polish-born feminist and freethinker reveal a singular and radical activism. To grasp the origins, characteristics and scope of Ernestine Rose's cosmopolitan, heterodox feminism, this article examines the influence of Owenism and religious criticism on her career between Europe and the United States.
