Through the prisms of social identity theory and Internet studies, this article examines the recruitment and radicalization tactics of the “alt-right,” a nebulous online far-right movement which emerged in the 2010s. In order to investigate these processes, this study focuses on the movement's co-optation of digital practices such as Internet memes and trolling.
