Dans cet article, nous prenons pour objet l'implantation d'un groupe d'immigrés angolais au sein des favelas de Maré, à Rio de Janeiro. En nous basant sur un travail d'observation participante, mené depuis les lieux de sociabilité des Angolais, nous examinons la nature des relations qui se sont établies entre ce groupe étranger et les résidents brésiliens de la favela. Dans un espace urbain informel et marginalisé, fortement marqué par le racisme structurel, la relation à l'africanité demeure ambiguë. La présence d'immigrés originaires d'un pays d'Afrique Subsaharienne permet de jeter un regard nouveau sur les rapports ethnoraciaux et les recompositions identitaires au Brésil. In this paper, we focus on the settlement of a group of Angolan immigrants in the favelas of Maré in Rio de Janeiro. Based on a participant observation work carried out from the places of sociability of the Angolans, we examine the nature of the relations that have been established between this foreign group and the Brazilian residents of the favela. In an informal and marginalized urban space strongly marked by structural racism and where the relationship to Africanity remains ambiguous, the presence of immigrants from a Sub-Saharan African country allows us to take a new look at ethno-racial relationships and identity reconstructions in Brazil.
