Revenant sur le mouvement qui a vu les lieux du soin psychiatrique se démultiplier et s'émanciper du cadre asilaire conçu au xixe siècle, l'auteur retrace les différentes étapes par lesquelles s'est opérée la dissémination du soin psychiatrique, avant de décrire la manière dont ce mouvement a amené à repenser profondément ce qui constitue un lieu de soins, notamment d'un point de vue architectural. Il montre enfin que cette mutation des lieux s'est articulée à un réaménagement de l'administration de la contrainte, qui s'est largement détachée du cadre hospitalier. Looking back at the movement that led to the multiplication of psychiatric care facilities and their emancipation from the framework of the asylum setting designed in the 19th century, the paper first reconstructs the various stages of the dissemination of psychiatric care and then shows how this movement led to a profound rethinking of what constitutes a care facility, in particular from an architectural point of view.
