Comment construire un objet qui combine sa puissance symbolique avec la création de nouvelles formes de sociabilité entre des populations affectées par un fait violent ? Une pièce d'habillement – un vêtement traditionnel des habitants d'une région andine du Pérou, tissé en laine d'alpaga – a joué un rôle déterminant dans l'identification de personnes disparues. Elle se situe également au cœur du développement d'un projet participatif, où elle devient un support de mémoire et se fait porteuse de voix pas toujours écoutées. À travers ce projet, se révèlent certaines qualités fondamentales du textile : sa capacité à communiquer et à activer des réflexions sur les conflits sociaux, en promouvant une politique de représentation citoyenne et de nouvelles formes de résistance sociale ainsi qu'en rendant possible le témoignage. La Chalina de la esperanza est un exemple d'action artistique qui associe création participative et cristallisation d'une mémoire collective, par le biais des éléments propres à l'univers textile andin. How can we create an object that combines symbolic power with the creation of new forms of sociability among populations affected by violent events? Clothing, and more specifically worn by the inhabitants of an Andean region of Peru, woven from alpaca wool, plays an essential role in the recognition of missing persons and is also the origin of the development of a participatory project where textile work gives voice to those who are not always heard. This practice reveals some of the fundamental qualities of textiles: the ability to communicate and stimulate reflection on social conflicts, promoting citizen representation and new forms of social resistance by making testimony possible. The Chalina de la esperanza project is an example of artistic action that combines participatory creation and the crystallization of collective memory through elements specific to the Andean textile universe.
