- Le fonctionnement des Commissions et la préparation du Ve Plan. L'exemple de la Commission de la Main-d'œuvre - J. E. S. Hayward p. 447-467 J. E. S. Hayward : Planning Commission procedures and the preparation of the Fifth Plan : the case of Manpower. The French planning commissions have been traditionally regarded as the centrepiece of concerted economic policy making. However, by the Fifth Plan, the process of politicisation had gravely distorted the Monnet model, the pressures ? particularly from the Government, but also from the interest groups ? rendering the old consensus-creating procedures not only less effective but less desired. The serious problems this presented to the Fifth Plan Manpower Commission, together with the difficulties experienced in forecasting the working population, led to increasing disenchantment with the Plan by the interest groups. The Plan ceased to be a collective commitment to a common purpose and became merely the controversial expression of the Government's medium-term economic policy.
- Les filières de la carrière politique en France - Mattei Dogan p. 468-492 Mattei Dogan : Roads to political careers in France. Under the IIIrd and IVth Republics the roads to power were diverse and their social basis underwent a profound change between 1870 and 1950. Any typology of political careers is necessarily partly arbitrary. However, we can differentiate a certain number of means : activities in a political party, trade-unionism, journalism, local elected functions, family relations, personal fortune, oratory talent, etc. It is necessary to make a difference between great parlementary men and the average deputies in order to determine the place occupied by political men in the ruling class.
- Persistance de la famille étendue dans un milieu industriel urbain - Jean Rémy p. 493-505 Jean Remy : Persistance of the extended family in an industrial and urban environment. Hypothesis. The affective ties established between members of an extended family try to survive in urban and industrial environment by finding ways of expression adapted to the situation. While having lost its functions of structuration for global society, the extended family continues to play a privileged role in the satisfaction of social needs of an affective order. A research carried out in the Charleroi agglomeration allows us to verify this hypothesis on the following points: the part played by the proximity of an extended family in the satisfaction derived from the place of residence ; preponderant role of the family in the more intimate system of leisure. But these relations do not have any consequences on the authority of extended families over nuclear families.
- Techniques de classification automatique utilisant un indice de ressemblance - W. Fernandez De La Vega p. 506-520 W. Fernandez de La Vega : Classifications techniques using a resemblance index. Suggestions for a formal study of a particular category of classification methods, which contrary to the latent class method, does not use a model for class structure. These methods have as starting point a matrix of similarity index calculated for each set of objects in the ensemble which is to be classified.
- De quelques transformations dans le système familial russe. Revue critique - Jean Cuisenier, Catherine Raguin p. 521-557 Jean Cuisenier and Catherine Raguin : On some transformations of the Russian family system. A critical survey. A critical survey grouping different sources and ideas on the transformation of the Russian family. The traditional extended family whose system was reconstituated by Friedrich has broken up since the beginning of the century. However the contemporary family in urban society described by Kharcev, and the rural « way of life » described by Russian ethnologues, are not identical. Some elements of explanation can be found in the variations of the family policy studied by Schlesinger, the development of kolkhozian agriculture and the Soviet industrialisation.
