Depuis l'émeute de Stonewall en 1969, la Gay Pride s'est banalisée jusqu'à faire partie intégrante du calendrier festif annuel des métropoles nord-américaines ou européennes. De manifestation confidentielle faisant figure de coming out collectif mettant en cause la domination hétérosexuelle et le statut de minoritaire dans lequel elle enferme les gays, les lesbiennes, les trans- ou les bisexuel(le)s, elle est devenue une fête urbaine qui draine des participants tant hétérosexuels qu'homosexuels aux profils et aux motivations très différents. En France, la marche s'est progressivement institutionnalisée, modifiant profondément le sens et la forme de l'événement. Après s'être arrêté sur les origines de la Gay Pride et la façon dont elle s'est diffusée, cet article s'attachera à décrire les formes de reconnaissance et d'appropriation qu'elle permet, mettant ainsi en évidence la porosité des oppositions qui la structurent notamment en termes de visibilité et d'invisibilité. Since the Stonewall riots in 1969, the Gay Pride has become a more commonplace phenomenon, and is now one among other annual festivities in North-American or European major cities. What once was a confidential demonstration, serving the purpose of a collective coming out, questioning the heterosexual domination and the minority status in which gays, lesbians, trans and bisexuals are held captive, has now become an urban celebration, gathering heterosexuals as well as homosexuals, participants with varied life histories and motives. In France, the walk has been progressively institutionalized, which deeply affects the meaning and pattern of the event. After presenting the origins of the Gay Pride and the way the movement spread, this paper will describe the various forms of recognition and appropriation it makes possible, shedding light on the porosity of its constituting oppositions, with regards to visibility and invisibility.
