Christiane Bougerol : Ensorcellement maternel et trouble mental aux Antilles : histoire d'un cas. Aux Antilles françaises, il n'y a pas de règle préférentielle ou d'exclusion à la clé des rapports entre un ensorcelé et son sorcier. Ici, l'auteur montre comment un ensorcellement attribué à la mère met l'ensorcelé dans une situation où il se trouve dépourvu du recours thérapeutique traditionnel, eu égard à la position de la mère dans les sociétés antillaises. Christiane Bougerol: Mental disorder and bewitching by mothers in the French West Indies: a case study. To explain the relation between a victim and a sorcerer in the French West Indies, neither the rule of preference nor of exclusion can be utilized. In this paper, the author shows how, being supposed to be bewitched by it's own mother, a person cornes to a situation in which there is no more help to wait for from traditional therapy, because of the mother's position in this society.
