- Le vote ouvrier en France : analyse écologique des élections de 1962 - Mattei Dogan p. 435-471 Mattei Dogan : The worker's vote in France : an ecological analysis of the 1962 elections. How did the working-class vote in the referendum and the parliamentary elections of 1962, when a choice had to be made between General de Gaulle and the parties of the Fourth Republic ? A statistical analysis, based on ecological contexts, illustrated by sixteen graphs, has permitted the formulation of a series of hypotheses. A typology of the ninety départements, is outlined and some types of voters are described conservative workers, « red » peasants, left-wing gaulliste and right-wing anti-gaullists, etc. Various aspects are stressed: the extreme diversity of France considered from the viewpoint of socio-political ecology ; the working-class support of Gaullism, its inter-class and inter-party character ; the polymorphous nature of the Communist Party ; the relationship between the religious factor and the political behavior ; the regression of the Communist Party between 1946 and 1962 ; political cleavages within the working-class. The hypotheses put forth are mainly based on the ecological analysis, but the results of public-opinion surveys have also been used.
- Société de masse et inadaptations psycho-culturelles - Denis Szabo p. 472-486 Denis Szabo : Mass society and psycho-cultural inadaptation. The interaction between « mass society » and « mass culture » creates new adaptation problems. From socio-cultural, the inadaptation tends to become psycho-cultural entailing theoretical and conceptual consequences. From the point of view of empirical research the analysis must bear on the interaction between culture and personality.
- Enquête comparative de budgets-temps (II) - Madeleine Guilbert, Nicole Lowit, Joseph Creusen p. 487-512 Madeleine Guilbert, Nicole Lowtt and Joseph Creusen : Time-budget comparative inquiry. In a preceeding article (R. Franc. Social., 6 (3), July-Sept. 1965), the authors exposed a few problems of methodology. As to the results of this inquiry, they show the importance, for men as well as women, of the total time comprising « professional time » « transportation » « work at home », and correlatively the small part of « free time ». This may perhaps explain the almost total absence of cultural or social activities. The stated results of this inquiry justify in fact the method employed (accounting of plural occupations), allowing a more precise appreciation of the « load » of occupation incurred by a particular subject.
