- Adolescents en transition. Classe adolescente et classes sociales, aspiration au divertissement et aspiration à la vie bourgeoise dans une commune du Sud-Finistère - Edgar Morin p. 435-455 Edgar Morin : Adolescents in transition. In the community of P. those adolescents subjected to urban influences during their work year spend their holidays in an urban fashion. The old neighbourhood and village clans are being slowly supplanted by groups of school friends, new relations between boys and girls, in new clans. Social origin plays a role of segregation for young people of the higher bourgeois class, young manual workers, young sailors of the little port of P., but not for the sons of rural inhabitants and middle class bourgeois. Outside of work, dancing, drinking, and cars combine to bring to an expanding minority the pleasures of night life. The history from april to november 1965, of a youth comity, grouping a large part of the communitie's adolescents reveals common tendencies as well as heterogeneities among adolescents and throws light on the ambiguous relations between adolescents and adult society. An attempt is made to analyse this situation in relation to the development of an adolescent identity and the integration-segregation of adolescents in the actual development of society.
- Les résultats d'une étude sociologique de la religiosité en Bulgarie - Jivko Ochavkov p. 456-471 J. Ochavkov : Results of a sociological study on religiosity in Bulgaria. An inquiry was carried out in Bulgaria in 1962, its aim was to verify the conception according to which religion tends to disappear as a consequence of the economic, political and cultural changes having occurred during the edification of communist society. This inquiry, undertaken with important means, reached more than 40 000 persons and took into consideraton the evolution of different forms of conscience and religious practice.
- Accommodation conjugale et réseau social des mariages bi-ethniques au Canada - Colette Carisse p. 472-484 Colette Carisse : Conjugal accommodation and social network in bi-ethnical marriage in Canada. The author uses the cultural difference existing between husbands and wives of different ethnical origins (french-canadians ; english-canadians) in order to study conjugal accommodation. This accommodation is reduced to three forms : the husband wins, there is a compromise, or the wife wins. The husband or wife wins when, in a given behaviour, they refer to ther own culture, with little or no concession to the other's. The study bears specifically on the relation between the accommodation in inter-family relations (measured by the language used) and the accommodation in the composition of the social network (measured by the ethnical origin of family and friends) . The author comes to the conclusion that the liberty to choose members of a social network favorises a compromise situation where neither husband nor wife wins. One can make the hypothesis that this compromise relieves a highly conflictual family situation, and that generally speaking, freely chosen contacts with members of a social network can serve as an affective support reserved all too often in contemporary sociology to the family unit.
- Tradition, vie urbaine et vie rurale dans l'Inde du Nord. Etude comparative de quelques attitudes dans l'Utar-Pradesh - Purushottam Joshi p. 485-490 Purushottam Joshi : Comparative study of personality patterns in an urban and an industrial community in Uttar Pradesh (North India). A study of the characteristic patterns of personality as reflected in traditional religious attitudes, caste consciousness and habit system, on the basis of a sampled population of urban and industrial areas. The results of present researches are based on 160 interviews from the village of Binaora in the Sitapur District, and from two factories in Kanpur serving as a control group : rural subjects have comparatively more religious-loaded attitudes than those in urban areas, they also are more bound by tradition, cast-conscious, and concerned by social norms.
